The Arizona State Sun Devils are getting ready to go in a new direction on the hardwood.
Barring a miraculous run in the Big 12 tournament, the Sun Devils will miss the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight season.
As such, the top brass in Tempe has decided that the end of this 2025-26 season will be the end of the Bobby Hurley era of Sun Devils basketball.
Hurley has been the head coach at Arizona State since 2015.

Hurley's contract expires on June 30.
Hurley is 184-166 and went to 3 NCAA tournaments with the Sun Devils. ASU plays tomorrow against Baylor in first round of Big 12 tourney.
Hurley's current record at ASU is 184-166. His Sun Devils finished the 2025-26 season at 16-15 and ranked 11th in the Big 12. They'll face another 16-15 team, Baylor, in the first round of the Big 12 tournament.
Arizona State is the 12th seed to Baylor's 13th.
If ASU can get past Baylor, it doesn't get any easier. Up next in the tournament would be fifth-seeded Iowa State.
Either way, Hurley's contract runs out in June, and the Sun Devils have made it their intention to go in a different direction.
Again, barring a miracle in the Big 12 tourney, Hurley will have taken Arizona State to just three NCAA Tournament bids in just 11 seasons.
There were high hopes for Hurley when he was hired. He went 42-20 in two seasons at Buffalo. He won the MAC regular season in 2013-14 and then repeated that, plus a MAC tournament win and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2014-15.
Hurley played college ball at Duke. He was a two-time national champion with the Blue Devils and the 1992 NCAA Tournament Final Four Most Outstanding Player. He was then selected No. 7 overall in the 1993 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings.
He's the brother of UConn head coach Dan Hurley, so it will be interesting to see if he perhaps winds up as an assistant coach out in Storrs by the time next season rolls around.
