Packers cut two-time Pro Bowl OL Elgton Jenkins

The Green Bay Packers have to feel great about what they were able to get out of Elgton Jenkins over the past seven seasons.

They selected Jenkins with the 44th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft and he gave them two Pro Bowl seasons at left guard (2020 and 2022) while playing guard, center and even tackle over the course of his time in Green Bay.

He was a tremendous value for the Packers as a second-rounder and he's been a leader for their offensive line, but as is usually the case in the NFL, all good things must come to an end.

The Packers cut Jenkins on Monday ahead of the new NFL league year.

As such, they're expected to save $19.5M in salary-cap space for the 2026 season.

Jenkins should have a strong market as a free agent, but his issue is that he's coming off a major injury. He suffered a season-ending broken ankle on Nov. 10, 2025.

Before that, he had also struggled a bit at center. The Packers had asked him to move to center, a position he played in college, after signing guard Aaron Banks in free agency and drafting a guard/tackle in Anthony Belton.

Jenkins never really looked comfortable at center, though it's worth noting that he skipped much of the offseason program as he was looking for a new contract.

The Packers never gave him that contract, and now they've moved on from him completely.

Jenkins is a better tackle than a center and a better center than a guard, so it will be interesting to see which team decides to pick him up.

According to Spotrac, he's worth a four-year, $60M deal on the open market, but he's also being ranked as a center.
