The Florida Gators went 25-6 during the 2025-26 regular season and won the SEC.
They were 16-2 against SEC opponents and now find themselves ranked No. 1 in the upcoming SEC Tournament. Ranked No. 4 nationally, there's a good chance Florida ends up as one of the four one-seeds once the NCAA men's basketball tournament bracket is released.
As such, it should be no surprise that the Gators cleaned up in the annual SEC basketball awards.
In fact, head coach Todd Golden was named the 2025-26 SEC Coach of the Year.
Golden, 40, is in his fourth season coaching the Gators, and he's coming off a 2024-25 campaign that saw his team win the whole darn thing.
He's undoubtedly one of the best young coaches in the game, and while this is his first SEC Coach of the Year honor, it will be far from his last.

Not only did Golden get the top award in SEC hoops, but several Gators were honored alongside him.
Junior forward Thomas Haugh was named an All-SEC first team player after totalling 17.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game this season.
Junior center Rueben Chinyelu was named to the All-SEC second team. He averaged a double-double this season with 11.4 points and 11.7 rebounds per game.
Lastly, junior forward Alex Condon was named to the All-SEC third team. Condon notched 14.8 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
Florida is absolutely a team that can run the table this March and join its 2006 and 2007 squads as a rare team that has what it takes to win back-to-back NCAA tournaments.
The Gators finished the regular season on an 11-game winning streak with wins over Alabama, Kentucky (twice), Texas and Arkansas, amongst others.
