The No. 1-ranked Duke Blue Devils have suffered a tough personnel loss at the worst time of the season.
Starting point guard Caleb Foster will be out for the foreseeable future because of a fractured right foot.
Foster started Duke's 76-61 win over North Carolina this past weekend but played just 11 minutes before leaving the game with an injury. He had to go to the locker room and came back to the bench wearing a walking boot.
On Tuesday, head coach Jon Scheyer revealed that Foster suffered a fractured foot.
"Caleb Foster suffered a fracture in his right foot and is out for the foreseeable future. He had surgery Sunday morning," Duke confirmed in a social media post after Scheyer's news conference.
The Blue Devils also revealed that sophomore center Patrick Ngongba II will miss the ACC Tournament due to foot soreness.
Coach Scheyer update from media availability this morning:

*Caleb Foster suffered a fracture in his right foot and is out for the foreseeable future. He had surgery Sunday morning.
*Pat Ngongba II is out for the ACC Tournament with foot soreness. Hopeful for an NCAA Tournament…
The loss of Foster is huge for Duke. Not only should he be expected to miss the ACC Tournament, which begins Tuesday, but he's expected to miss a significant part or all of the NCAA Tournament as well.
With that said, Scheyer refused to rule him out completely.
"In his mind and our mind, we'll do everything we possibly can with our mindset to continue to advance where we can give him a shot to come back when it's all said and done," Scheyer said, according to ESPN.
A junior from Harrisburg, North Carolina, Foster has averaged 8.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game for Duke, and he's also known as one of the best perimeter defenders in college basketball.
Duke will likely turn to freshman guard Cayden Boozer to replace Foster. A former five-star recruit, Boozer has averaged 6.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in 20.7 minutes played per contest. He's the brother of Cameron Boozer, Duke's leading scorer this season.
