How Jedd Fisch, Washington landed three-star LB Isaiah Leilua over Stanford, powerhouse programs

The Washington Huskies and head coach Jedd Fisch have to be happy about the class they're building on the 2027 recruiting trail.

It's a class that's ranked No. 10 nationally. And yes, it's very early in the 2027 cycle, but what that says is that the eight players who have committed to Washington to far are all high-quality recruits.

The latest commitment comes from three-star linebacker Isaiah Leilua from Anaheim, California.

Leilua has a lot of offers on his plate, but he had broken his recruitment process down to Washington and Stanford.

On Tuesday, he went the Huskies' way. This came after a weekend visit to Seattle.

“Washington recruited me harder than anyone,” Leilua told Greg Biggins of Rivals. “I’ve been feeling them the most for awhile and I have a great relationship with the coaches there.

“They reach out almost every day to make sure they get that UW logo in front of me. I like the defense and the overall scheme there and it’s just a great all around fit for me.”

The Huskies like Leilua as an inside linebacker, and he's ranked as the No. 44 linebacker in the 2027 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Isaiah Leilua a nice three-star LB pickup for Washington Huskies

He plays for Servite High School and will be a four-year starter when all is said and done.

As a junior, Leilua played in just five games due to injury. Still, he notched 27 tackles, seven tackles for loss and a sack. In his sophomore season, he put up 67 tackles, including three for a loss.

"They like my ability to play the run but also drop and cover and play in space so I’m really excited about my decision," Leilua said of the Huskers.

Other notable offers for the three-star include USC, Auburn, Arizona, Michigan, Ohio State and Notre Dame.
