Things may only get worse for slumping Warriors after bad Stephen Curry news

The struggling Golden State Warriors could sure use a healthy Stephen Curry, but the guard is now set to miss more time.

Curry hasn't played since Jan. 30 because of a right knee issue. On Wednesday, the team reevaluated his injury and determined he will miss at least 10 more days, during which the Warriors play five games. He'll continue to intensify court work before his next medical exam.

Stephen Curry injury news is terrible timing for Warriors

That couldn't come at a worse time for Golden State (32-33), which has lost three straight games, including an embarrassing 130-124 home loss to the lottery-bound Chicago Bulls (27-38) on Tuesday night. The losing streak has diminished the Warriors' chances of making a deep playoff run.

Entering Wednesday, the Warriors had dropped into ninth place in the Western Conference, behind the Los Angeles Clippers (32-32) and Phoenix Suns (38-27). They would face the Portland Trail Blazers (31-35) in the first play-in game if the postseason started Wednesday.

Things aren't going to get any easier for Golden State over its next five games. Take a look at its upcoming stretch, which features four road games. (All included records before Wednesday night's games.)

Date  Opponent
March 13 (10 p.m. ET, Prime Video) Minnesota Timberwolves (40-25)
March 15 (8 p.m. ET, NBC/Peacock)  @New York Knicks (41-25)
March 16 (7 p.m. ET, MNMT) @Washington Wizards (16-48)
March 18 (7 p.m. ET, ESPN) @Boston Celtics (43-22)
March 20 (7:30 p.m. ET, NBATV) @Detroit Pistons (46-18)

The game with the Wizards seems winnable, but with the way the Warriors have played lately, don't be stunned if they lay another egg. Per StatMuse's data, Golden State has allowed 117.7 points per game (115.3 PPG is the league average, via Basketball Reference) and shot a subpar 42.1% from the field during this span.

A healthy Curry would help the Warriors make a late playoff push with 17 regular-season games remaining. In 39 games this season, the two-time league MVP has averaged 27.2 PPG, his highest mark since the 2022-23 season.

The latest injury update, however, makes his timetable even more uncertain. Per ESPN's Shams Charania and Anthony Slater, Curry has said the issue is "unpredictable" and has already experienced multiple setbacks in rehab.

With Curry remaining unavailable, the Warriors seem poised to slip further out of the playoff picture.
