The Florida Gators had the commitment of four-star athlete Tramond Collins, but they lost it this past winter after Billy Napier was fired.
Collins never quite took the Gators out of it, though, and it was on new head coach Jon Sumrall to re-establish the relationship.
From Cottondale, Florida, Collins received interest from Georgia, Auburn, Florida State and LSU after his December 2025 decommitment.
He got back to Florida in January, though, and he also took a visit to Gainesville earlier in March. Sumrall got on the horn with him, and ultimately, he decided to get back into the fold with the Gators.
“It means a lot to see how involved he is with me, and it shows me how much he cares about me,” Collins recently said of Sumrall (h/t GatorOnline). “He recruits me hard, and he tells and shows me how much they need me to be a part of their team. Every time I talk to him, I don’t question how bad they want me to be a part of their program. He’s put a bunch of effort, but so have the other people on the staff. They’re all showing it.”
The announcement came on Wednesday afternoon:

Collins is a four-star athlete, ranked as the No. 4 athlete recruit in the 2027 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
He has played wide receiver, quarterback, defensive back and even linebacker at the high school level, but the Gators like him at wide receiver in college.
He checks in at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, and he caught 36 passes for 613 yards and five touchdowns as a junior for Cottondale High School. He also returned kicks and is a prolific speed demon. He was a regional champion in the 200-meter dash as a sophomore.
Sumrall's 2027 class only has three commitments, but they are big ones. Collins joins four-star cornerback Amare Nugent and three-star tight end Jackson Ballinger.
More will undoubtedly follow as the new staff at Florida gets its footing and starts winning some football games.
