Not long after it was learned that the Baltimore Ravens would not be sending the Las Vegas Raiders two first-round draft picks in return for star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby because Crosby failed a team physical, a report revealed that the Raiders were still "listening" to offers for Crosby's services from other clubs.
Crosby previously requested a trade but has since vowed to run it back with the franchise that drafted him in 2019. It now sounds like the Raiders have also changed their tune regarding Crosby's future.
"Per a league source, the Raiders are currently telling teams that defensive end Maxx Crosby won’t be traded, in the aftermath of the failed effort to ship him to the Ravens for a pair of first-round picks," NFL insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk shared on Thursday morning.
Of course, one can't help but wonder if the Raiders didn't like what they heard while "listening" to what other clubs had to say following the Ravens-related saga. It's now widely believed no other team would match Vegas' asking price for the 28-year-old, who may not be cleared until "June or early July" following the meniscus repair he needed earlier this winter.
As Florio noted, the Raiders have Crosby under contract via the three-year, $106.5M extension the two sides agreed to last offseason. It sounds like Crosby will play out at least another season of that agreement with the Raiders.
"The Raiders, we’re told, never wanted to trade him," Florio added about Crosby. "He wanted out. Now that he’s back and has publicly recommitted to the Raiders, he’s staying put. Obviously, the question of whether Crosby would pass a physical with another team looms over the possibility of a new trade."
There's no indication that any such trade is coming, at least not until Crosby's knee is in better shape than what it was when he met with Ravens doctors. For what it's worth, the Raiders should be an improved team following offseason additions that will become official long before Vegas likely makes Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza the first overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft later this spring.
