Chiefs may already have a Travis Kelce replacement in mind

The Kansas City Chiefs and star tight end Travis Kelce will continue their partnership for at least another year.

However, since he's mulled retirement in consecutive seasons, this will most likely be his final year in pro football.

Considering that, the Chiefs might want to get a jump-start on finding his replacement before he's already gone, and Mark Morales-Smith of Sports Illustrated believes the Chiefs will roll the dice on Oregon star Kenyon Sadiq at No. 9.

Chiefs might take Kenyon Sadiq to replace Travis Kelce

"Travis Kelce will be returning for one more season, but Sadiq is a special player and could be the long-term answer in Kansas City," Morales wrote

Sadiq is one of the most versatile pass-catching tight end prospects we've seen in years. He can be as efficient outside as in-line, working more like a wide receiver than a traditional tight end.

Taking him at No. 9 might be a little rich, since he's projected to be taken in the middle of the first round. That said, it wouldn't be crazy to see the Chiefs trade down a couple of spots to get him.

Kelce is a future Hall of Famer and one of the greatest — if not the greatest — pass-catching tight ends to ever lace them up.

He'd be an ideal mentor for another YAC monster with reliable hands like Sadiq.

Also, with the Chiefs revamping their running game with reigning Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III and the lack of high-end options for the passing game in free agency, Sadiq would give them a long-term solution to one of their most pressing issues.
