Bubba Wallace says he'd pit from the lead to see birth of second child

NASCAR Cup Series driver Bubba Wallace will be on baby watch again this weekend at Darlington Raceway as his wife, Amanda, prepares to give birth to the couple's second child.

Their son, Becks, was born on September 29, 2024. But Wallace missed the birth of his son due to a race at Kansas Speedway.

Now a father, the 32-year-old said in a Monday interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio that he won't make that same mistake again.

Bubba Wallace's priorities have changed

Should Wallace need to leave before or during the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway on March 22, 23XI Racing development driver and defending NASCAR Truck Series champion Corey Heim would get behind the wheel of the No. 23 Toyota.

Wallace shared that his wife's actual due date is March 23, the day after the Cup Series race at Darlington.

"I had told the team before the season started, 'Hey, look. Priorities have changed,'" Wallace told SiriusXM on Monday. "I've grown up, I'm a one-time dad, about to be a two-time dad, I missed my first birth. I really don't want to miss the second one."

"I'm letting you guys know that seeing my boy or girl that is born, that's [my] number one priority. If we just so happen to be leading the race coming down [to] 50 to go and we get the call, I'm pulling in. The importance of seeing this for me is [high]."

Through five races in the 2026 season, Wallace is second in the Cup Series standings, having four top 10 finishes and a worst finish of 11th at Circuit of the Americas on March 1.
