The Brooklyn Nets gave a new meaning to futility with their pitiful showing on Wednesday.

Brooklyn faced off at home on Wednesday against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. But with the way that the game ended up going for them, the Nets might as well have not even showed up to the arena.

The Nets produced one of the worst halves in NBA history, entering halftime with just 24 points scored. They scored 11 points in the first quarter and 13 points in the second quarter to go into the break trailing OKC by a miserable 60-24 score.

Social media had an absolute field day with Brooklyn’s horrific evening. Here were some of the most ruthless memes that the team received on X.

The 24 first-half points for Brooklyn tied their lowest-scoring half in the play-by-play era (since 1997-98). Meanwhile, it threatened the “records” of the lowest-scoring first half in NBA history (22 set by the Phoenix Suns in 2016) and the lowest-scoring overall half in NBA history (16 points by the then-New Orleans Hornets in 2006).

The Nets were without a number of key players for Wednesday’s game (including leading scorer Michael Porter Jr.) and also managed to “only” lose to the Thunder by a final score of 121-92. But there were many who had a laugh at the Nets’ expense on Wednesday, possibly including this former player of theirs.
