Kevin Durant inches closer to Michael Jordan as Rockets snap Hawks' win steak

Approaching a major career milestone, Kevin Durant was at his best as the Houston Rockets snapped the Atlanta Hawks' win streak on Friday night.

The Hawks entered the day riding an 11-game win streak, one that reached the longest for Atlanta in over a decade, but Durant made sure that's where it ended. Durant led his team with 25 points in 30 minutes.

One of the most prolific scorers in league history, Durant is now 25 points shy of matching Michael Jordan on the NBA's all-time scoring list. Passing Jordan would propel Durant into the top five for total career points.

Kevin Durant made the most of his shots and did more than just score

And, in typical Durant fashion, he put up his most recent performance in an efficient manner. He connected on 9-of-15 shots from the field for another 60% night while also sinking 3-of-5 from three.

Durant even helped generate more offense for his team by dishing out six assists to go along with three rebounds, two steals and two blocks to flex his prowess on defense as well.

Kevin Durant is having one of his typical seasons

Overall, Durant is now averaging 25.7 points, 5,5 boards and 4.5 assists with a staggering 51.7% mark from the field and a 40.5% from long range.

Assuming his numbers hold, the 2025-26 season will become Durant's 15th consecutive with an at or above 50% shooting clip.

But already a former league MVP, two-time NBA champion and Finals MVP, getting the win is the most important thing for Durant.

The win for the Rockets moved their record to 42-27, which is good enough for fourth place in the Western Conference. Houston is also only 2.5 games behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the No. 3 seed.
