Wake Forest lands three-star QB Emmett Queen over Kentucky, Arizona State

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have landed a player who they hope can be the future of their program.

That would be Emmett Queen, a three-star quarterback from Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.

Queen has nearly 20 offers to his name, but the big-time programs that were vying for his attention have been Wake Forest, in-state Kentucky and Arizona State.

Queen took a visit to Wake Forest to watch spring practice this past weekend, and that was enough to win him over.

On Monday, he committed to the Demon Deacons, citing his relationship with head coach Jake Dickert and the staff.

“What really made Wake stand out for me was how genuine the coaches were from the start, coach (Jake) Dickert, coach (Rob) Ezell, coach (Dan) Enos, and the whole staff felt real in every conversation. I connected with them personally, felt their belief in me, and knew this was the place where I could grow and help push Wake toward that elite level,” Queen told Rivals’ Greg Smith.

Queen is the No. 65 quarterback prospect in the 2027 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He's nearly 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, and he's the third commitment to Dickert's 2027 class.

Dickert went 9-4 in his first season at Wake Forest after going 23-20 in four seasons before that at Washington State. The Demon Deacons beat Mississippi State in the Duke's Mayo Bowl, and Queen likes where things are headed.

“They have a clear vision for building the program to the top, with high character guys who want to compete for championships," he said. "They were 9-4 last season and just being around the program you can feel the energy and upward momentum. Excited to be part of it.”

Queen led Beechwood High School to an 11-win season in 2025 while throwing for over 2,000 yards and 31 touchdowns compared to just two interceptions. He also rushed for four touchdowns.
