Seahawks' Jaxon Smith-Njigba sends warning to NFL after signing monster contract

Seattle Seahawks star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba produced an award-winning season, became a Super Bowl champion and reset the market for players at his position.

It sounds like he thinks his best days are ahead of him.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba wants to reach "another level" after award-winning season

On Wednesday, Smith-Njigba spoke with reporters about signing a four-year, $168.6M deal that included $120M guaranteed and made him the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. He warned opposing defenses that stopping him is only going to get harder down the road.

"For me, there's always more work to be done," Smith-Njigba said about his mindset, per Scott Polacek of Bleacher Report. "There's always another level to reach. But it is a blessing. This is a business, and I want to do good business."

ESPN stats show that Smith-Njigba led the NFL in 2025 with 1,793 receiving yards en route to earning NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award honors. He was fourth in the league with 119 receptions, and he tallied 10 receiving touchdowns over 17 games.

"I feel like I was definitely drafted to Seattle for a reason," Smith-Njigba explained, according to John Boyle of the Seahawks' website. "It's become home, and it's just a blessing to come back and be a part of a great staff, a great team, great coaches and a great community. So I couldn't ask for more from a city and an organization."

Jaxon Smith-Njigba reveals what's better than winning the Super Bowl

Shortly after the Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold said he and his teammates "wanted to play another game." Smith-Njigba may not have been ready to take the field on Wednesday, but he seems to already be thinking about defending the club's crown.

"The only thing better than one Super Bowl is two," Smith-Njigba added, per ESPN's Brady Henderson. "So just working to get there and whatever my team needs from me, I'll make sure I get it done."

As of Thursday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Seahawks second among the betting favorites at +950 odds to win Super Bowl LXI in February 2027. Such information could give Smith-Njigba even more fuel to build upon all that he accomplished from September 2025 through this past February.
