Browns insider links Myles Garrett with these NFC teams amid trade rumors

On the same day that ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter insisted that the Cleveland Browns told him they "are 100 percent definitely not trading" star pass-rusher Myles Garrett, Emmett Golden of 850 ESPN Cleveland shared that a Browns source told him: "We ain’t trading Myles."

Browns insider Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland/The Land on Demand seemingly isn't buying what the team is trying to sell after the club and Garrett agreed to change when option bonuses attached to his contract would be due.

Why Myles Garrett has a say in potential landing spots

Garrett went public with a trade request in February 2025, but he later signed a four-year, $160M contract extension that included $123.5M guaranteed and a no-trade clause. As Grossi noted, that agreement somewhat limits the Browns' options regarding Garrett's future this spring.

"They would have to deal only with Super Bowl contenders for Garrett to waive the no-trade clause the Browns generously gave him in his four-year contract extension last season," Grossi wrote for a piece posted late Thursday night. "They also would be wise to limit their negotiations only with teams in the NFC, so that Garrett could not help an AFC team haunt the Browns in the event they met in a future AFC playoff game."

Where could the Browns trade Myles Garrett?

Specifically, Grossi linked Garrett with the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers. Those five advertised contenders have the necessary draft assets to possibly acquire Garrett after the Cowboys received two first-round draft picks and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark from the Green Bay Packers for defensive star Micah Parsons last summer.

The Eagles and Lions were previously mentioned as potential landing spots for Garrett. Meanwhile, the Cowboys and Bears were heavily linked with pass-rusher Maxx Crosby before the Las Vegas Raiders agreed to trade him to the Baltimore Ravens earlier this month. However, the Ravens later backed out of that deal after Crosby failed a physical due to concerns related to his surgically repaired knee.

"Trading Garrett for a bushel of high draft picks would facilitate a much-needed rebuild as (Browns) owner Jimmy Haslam attempts to sell costly personal seat licenses to help fund his $2.5B indoor stadium in (Cleveland suburb) Brook Park," Grossi added.

In short, rumors about Garrett's unsettled future will continue to hover over the Browns unless he publicly confirms that he will be staying put through the offseason.
