Minnesota Vikings make 2027 decision on WR Jordan Addison

The Minnesota Vikings want to keep Jordan Addison around past the 2026 season.

As such, they've decided to exercise his fifth-year option.

The 23rd pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Addison is heading into his fourth season with the Vikings. Had the Vikings not picked up this team option, he would have been a free agent after the 2026 season.

Instead, he's now scheduled to get a big raise.

Addison is set to make $2.6 million in 2026. Now that his option has been picked up, he'll make a cool $18 million in 2027.

"He's a really important player for us and an impact player," interim general manager Rob Brzezinski said Monday, according to Kevin Seifert of ESPN.

Addison has been a strong WR2 for the Vikings next to superstar Justin Jefferson, so the Vikings' picking up this option simply makes sense.

Last season, he notched 42 receptions for 610 yards and three touchdowns, but he missed the first three games of the season because he had been suspended by the NFL.

Vikings WR Jordan Addison has dealt with a handful of legal issues

He had been arrested in July of 2024 on suspicion of driving under the influence after police had found him asleep at the wheel on a freeway near Los Angeles International Airport. Addison pleaded no contest to a "wet reckless" charge, which in California is a charge for reckless driving with the involvement of alcohol.

One would think Addison would be a shoo-in for a contract extension at some point, but off-the-field incidents are a concern with him.

There's the aforementioned "wet reckless" incident, but he was also cited for driving 140 mph on a freeway in Minnesota in July of 2023, and just this past January, he was arrested for misdemeanor trespassing in Tampa, Florida, but those charges were dropped.

In three seasons, Addison has caught 175 passes for 2,396 yards and 22 touchdowns.
