Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike McCarthy revealed how often he has been in contact with Aaron Rodgers as the quarterback makes a decision on playing in 2026.

McCarthy said on Monday’s “The Pat McAfee Show” that he and Rodgers have been speaking weekly since he landed the Pittsburgh job. The coach said the conversations have been “very positive,” but that the team has no intention of rushing Rodgers into a decision.

“I’ve talked to Aaron regularly and will continue to do so. We’re just working through it,” McCarthy said. “We’ve had very, very positive conversations on a weekly basis.”

McCarthy offered no indication of when a decision might come, but continued to take the approach that the Steelers are content to wait.

Rodgers has been largely quiet since McCarthy was hired as the new coach of the Steelers. The one hint he has given was a positive one, but it is nothing Steelers fans can feel certain about.

Rodgers has long had a habit of taking his time on decisions such as this one. The Steelers are probably at least considering other quarterbacks they might target in the event he does not come back, but for now, they’re in a holding pattern.
