Spurs star Victor Wembanyama's dominant season comes with a stunning stat

San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama's meteoric rise in the NBA has been a sight to behold.

The Spurs (57-18) are the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference and will return to the postseason for the first time since 2019 in large part due to the dominance of Wembanyama. As the regular season wanes, it's only appropriate to reflect on the impact the Frenchman has made for the Spurs organization.

Victor Wembanyama already outpacing Spurs royalty

Wembanayama and the Spurs are fresh off a dominant 129-114 win against the Chicago Bulls on Monday night. The Spurs superstar erupted for 41 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks.

After that affair, Wembanyama officially has had more 40-point performances (seven) than Spurs legends such as Tim Duncan (five), Manu Ginobili (six), Tony Parker (three) and Kawhi Leonard (one).

It's fair to mention that Wembanyama has only played 176 career games for the Spurs thus far, and more 40-point outings are expected in his promising career.

Victor Wembanyama's dominant campaign

Wembanyama's season has been nothing short of prolific on both ends of the floor. He is averaging 24.5 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 3.1 blocks. Wembanyama currently leads the NBA in total blocks and ranks fifth in the association in rebounds per game.

Wembanyama's ability to protect the rim effectively while also being a solid team defender has lifted San Antonio to rank seventh in paint points allowed. Furthermore, the 7-foot-4 big man's ability to handle the ball like a guard and shoot from the perimeter has made him a premier two-way superstar.

The 22-year-old center picked up right where he left off last season after his campaign was cut short due to blood clots. In Wembanayama's sophomore campaign, he averaged 24.3 points, 11 rebounds and 3.8 blocks which earned him his first All-Star selection.

Now, Wembanyama is likely to make his first All-NBA team, win Defensive Player of the Year and be a finalist to potentially win the MVP award in just his third season.
