Ravens QB Lamar Jackson 'even more ready' for Jesse Minter era

One has to wonder if Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has a bit of pep in his step this spring.

Things are changing in Baltimore. After 18 seasons with John Harbaugh as head coach, there's a new regime in town. New is not always better, but the Ravens have undoubtedly gotten younger at head coach.

Harbaugh is 63 years old. New Ravens head coach Jesse Minter is 42. Young doesn't necessarily mean better, either, but Minter is known as an up-and-comer in the coaching scene.

He should bring new ideas and a new vibe to Baltimore, and at least the start of the offseason workout programs, which have been noticeable.

Jackson, 29, is usually not at the voluntary offseason workouts. He's a two-time league MVP, so that makes sense.

He was there at the start of the spring workout period for Minter, though, and according to wideout Zay Flowers, he's looking ready to go.

"He's always ready ... he's even more ready this year," Flowers said on Wednesday, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN. "He's excited about the coaching staff. He's excited about getting to work with [new offensive coordinator] Declan [Doyle]. So yeah, he's ready to go. He wants to finish. He wants to get a ring."

Baltimore Ravens feel their Super Bowl window is open

The new regime in Baltimore apparently has several veterans pumped. Jackson wasn't the only star seen at the workouts. He was among running back Derrick Henry, safety Kyle Hamilton and linebacker Roquan Smith.

According to Flowers, there's urgency growing in the locker room. This is a team that knows how talented it can be, but they actually have to get the job done.

The Ravens boast a 76-31 record with Jackson at quarterback ever since he took over as the starter in 2018. Jackson is only 3-5 in the playoffs, though.

"It doesn't matter who it is, you are going to have a window, and you have to just seize your opportunity," Flowers said. "And this is our window, I feel like."
