A “bombshell” announcement on LIV Golf might be coming, and it would rock the golfing world.

It’s unclear exactly where the news will come from the Saudi-backed league. After a disastrous Masters for all but one of LIV’s players, the tour’s standing in the golfing world has never been lower.

Could one of the tour’s biggest stars, like Bryson DeChambeau or Jon Rahm, be leaving to rediscover their major form? Or could the tour be folding altogether?

Only time will tell, but Brandel Chamblee predicted that this could mean the end of LIV forever.

Brandel Chamblee predicts the end of LIV Golf

LIV Golf completely abandoned its identity this season to allow its players to qualify for and win major championships. They abandoned the 54-hole format, which gave the tour its name, moving to a 72-hole format, which aligns with the majors.

And with their two biggest stars, DeChambeau and Rahm, winning the three LIV events before The Masters, and with Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler seemingly out of sorts in the build-up to Augusta, they couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity to win the first major of the year.

Instead, DeChambeau missed the cut, Rahm never looked competitive, and McIlroy won over second-place Scheffler. Only one LIV player, Tyrrell Hatton, finished in the top 30, and Sergio Garcia was given a code-of-conduct warning.

Chamblee predicts that this was the nail in the coffin for LIV. He posted to X: “Given that the product was so ill-conceived and ended up being worse than anyone could have imagined.

“With shotgun starts, initially 54 holes, a team concept that was nothing but laughable and tournaments that meant and continue to mean nothing, and such a paltry number of viewers, losing billions along the way – would it surprise anyone if the Saudis came to their senses and finally euthanized the whole lame-brained tour.”

Chamblee, a frequent critic of LIV, has landed a flying elbow off the top rope with this flaming of LIV. But ultimately, the Golf Channel analyst could be exactly right.
