Ravens' Jesse Minter has one simple request for Diego Pavia

The Baltimore Ravens rolled the dice on one of the most polarizing players in this 2026 NFL Draft class.

Diego Pavia became the first Heisman Trophy finalist to go undrafted in the past 12 years, but he signed a deal with Jesse Minter's team to compete for a backup quarterback spot.

Given the glaring questions about his physical limitations and demeanor, watching most teams pass over Pavia multiple times was somewhat unsurprising.

That's why his new head coach wants to see him get to work and earn his stripes in the pros.

Jesse Minter wants Diego Pavia to shine

"So now he's in the door and it's like, 'Show us what you can do,'" Minter said, per ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "And just like all the undrafted rookies, that's what I would say."

Minter is well aware of the media frenzy and the implications that would come with giving Pavia a roster spot. For him, however, it's all about what he can give the team.

"For us, we see it as an opportunity to bring a player in that could potentially be something, and that's really what this is for us," Minter continued.

The Ravens are obviously committed to Lamar Jackson as their franchise quarterback, and even though he hasn't been given a new contract extension, it shouldn't be long before he puts pen to paper.

They also have veteran Tyler Huntley as his backup, with Pavia now competing with fellow rookie Joe Fagnano for the third-stringer job.

That said, standing at 5-foot-10, and given his history of character issues, the 24-year-old rookie will probably have to work three times as hard to prove that he belongs, regardless of his accolades in college.
