Cameron Young receives the best possible endorsement after Doral win

Cameron Young went wire-to-wire at Trump National Doral to win the Cadillac Championship by six shots. The 28-year-old was so dominant at Doral that he left even World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler impressed.

Scheffler, who played with Young in Rounds 1, 2 and 4 at the Cadillac Championship, gushed about the three-time PGA Tour winner's skill and poise.

"I've always been very impressed with Cam's game," Scheffler told reporters after his second-place finish at Doral, per Yahoo Sports. "Every time I've played with him, I've always been impressed with his game. This week, he hit a lot of quality shots — a lot of quality iron shots, quality tee shots, especially on the holes where it really matters. There are some tee shots out here that are really difficult, and he stepped up and hit the shots."

To Scheffler's point, Young ranked third in the field in strokes gained from off the tee (3.797) and 26th in strokes gained on approach (0.989). As solid as his ball-striking was, his red-hot putter was what separated him from the field. Young led the field in strokes gained from putting (7.062) and ranked second in scrambling (19/24) for the week.

"First 27 holes, I don’t think he missed anything really. It was nuts. Guy was just holing everything," Scheffler said on Sunday. "When you’re hitting really good shots and holing a lot of putts, that’s a recipe to run away with a golf tournament."

That's exactly what Young did, shooting 64-67-70-68 at Doral to run away from the field and cruise to a six-shot victory at 19 under par. Even more impressively, he did so while going head-to-head with the best golfer in the world for 54 holes.

Where does Cameron Young rank in the world of golf?

Young is quickly ascending to the elite tier of professional golfers. If Scheffler's strong endorsement isn't enough to prove that, Young's recent results surely are.

Over his last six starts, Young has two wins, four total top-three finishes and no finish worse than T25. Dating back to his win at the Wyndham Championship last summer, Young has finished inside the top 10 in 10 of his last 15 starts. He has three wins in that span after going nearly four full seasons on the PGA Tour without securing a victory.

Young's statistical profile in 2026 is also unrivaled on the PGA Tour. The Wake Forest product ranks fifth in strokes gained from tee to green, fourth in strokes gained from off the tee, third in approach proximity, third in bogey avoidance and sixth in birdie or better percentage.

It's hard to place Young ahead of Scheffler and Rory McIlroy with such a small sample size, but it's time to start talking about him as the third-best golfer in the world over Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau.
