Not so long ago, Tyreek Hill was in the conversation as the most dangerous offensive weapon in the league.
His speed made him the ultimate YAC specialist, and he was one injury away from becoming the first wide receiver to eclipse 2,000 receiving yards in a season.
Fast forward to today, and he's still a free agent. He's coming off a major injury, and he may have lost a step.
Nevertheless, NESN’s Aaliyan Mohammed believes he should be on the New England Patriots' radar, especially if they fail to trade for A.J. Brown.
“Hill is an eight-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro. He led the league in receiving yards in 2023, but is coming off a major leg injury,” Mohammed wrote.
Hill's production was second to none in his prime. Despite some subpar quarterback play, he still managed to haul in 4,733 receiving yards and 27 receiving touchdowns in his four years in South Florida, per Football Reference.
The lack of interest in his services might be due to his season-ending injury, but Mohammed believes he might be tempted to sign a "prove it" deal to play for a Super Bowl-caliber team:
“Hill is one of the fastest players in the league. A leg injury like his could have permanent effects on his speed, significantly dampening his impact,” Mohammed continued. “However, he may be willing to sign on a short-term deal to prove his worth again. He is still available and could do some real damage with Drake Maye as his trigger man.”
There's still no guarantee that the Philadelphia Eagles will even trading Brown or that they'll send him to the Patriots.
The clock is ticking, and even though Hill is still up for grabs, the Kansas City Chiefs may also need another pass catcher, and he's never been shy about his desire to return to the team that drafted him.
