Not ready to retire just yet, former All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is on the hunt for a new team. Officially a free agent, Hopkins still believes he can help a team get over the hump.
in fact, Hopkins, 33, has one team in particular in mind, one that would keep him in the same division he experienced in 2025. For Hopkins, he's targeting the Cincinnati Bengals as an option because of Joe Burrow.
When asked if there's any quarterback he hasn't played with yet who he would still love to share a team with, Hopkins, who has caught passes from Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson in consecutive seasons, wasted no time in mentioning Burrow's name.
"I gotta go with Joe Burrow," Hopkins said during an interview with Sports Illustrated.
And when pressed for more, Hopkins elaborated further.
"I think Burrow is one of the best," Hopkins said. "I love his game, his toughness. I mean, he took his team to a Super Bowl early in his career and I feel like he can back there with a little bit of help."
While Hopkins is right about Burrow being an elite-signal caller and already having a Super Bowl run on his resume, getting the Bengals back to to that point would likely be more about the rest of the team than adding another receiver to the offense. With Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins on both sides, Burrow has weapons.

It's more about staying healthy — Burrow only played in eight games last season — the team playing clean football and the defense stepping up on a regular basis for Cincinnati to return to the playoffs, let alone the Super Bowl. The Bengals' last postseason appearance came in the year that followed their Super Bowl run, losing in the AFC Championship Game to one of Hopkins' former teams in the Kansas City Chiefs.
How much Hopkins can make a difference is also up in the air. The 13-year NFL veteran played in all 17 games in 2025, but only caught 22 passes for 320 yards with two touchdowns, all the lowest totals for a full season of his career.
But if the Bengals are interested in adding more to the offense, Burrow will be tasked with finding out if Hopkins still has something left in the tank. Burrow is coming off a season in which he threw for 1,809 yards with 17 touchdowns and five picks in limited time.
Through 195 NFL regular season games, Hopkins, a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time First Team All-Pro, has 1,006 career receptions, 13,295 yards and 85 scores. Like Burrow, he's still looking for his first Super Bowl ring to solidify his Hall of Fame-caliber resume.
