The Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder will duke it out in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals on Tuesday, May 5, and the Thunder are heavily favored to take this series, largely due to All-Star guard Luka Doncic being out with an injury.
LeBron James, of course, is a factor that will weigh heavily on the Thunder. The 41-year-old veteran may even help the Lakers pull off an upset ns this series, even those the odds say otherwise.
For James, the NBA isn't just about professional basketball. It's also about family. He's on the same team as his son, Bronny James, and that makes this time in his career extra special.
During an episode of his "Mind the Game" podcast with Steve Nash , James talked about what it's been like being on the same team as Bronny James and playing together this season.
"I believe we scored 10 straight points between the two of us," James said on the show. "I think we both had a three and we both had a layup, whatever the case may be. I was able to throw him a lob and we had that mini run between the two of us and that was just something that I would never ever forget."
LeBron James says Bronny has been a big motivation for him to keep playing:

“To be able to have Bronny in the locker room has definitely helped out a lot as well. Just I have a job and a responsibility to show him what it means to be a professional, you know, and yes, he’s seen… https://t.co/j57pYDHpcj pic.twitter.com/vVzSZU3Bhq
James also got a bit emotional talking about the "small wins" that he's had with his son and amid this Los Angeles Lakers season.
"Something that I've learned obviously at my elder stage and being 41 years old to kind of appreciate the small wins in the moment," James commented on the show. "That was one of those moments where I've always been locked in, and right there — throwing him the lob, seeing him make the three — we were going back and forth. I kind of blanked out for a little bit and just really accepted and relished that moment."
LeBron added that he feels a responsibility to set a good example for his son: "I have a job and a responsibility to show him what it means to be a professional."
