The Florida Gators are rolling on the 2027 recruiting trail.
New head coach Jon Sumrall has high expectations for the Gators now that he's in charge. If he keeps recruiting at the level that he is, the Gators could very well reach the heights that they became known for on the gridiron back in the Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer eras.
On Tuesday, Sumrall and the Gators picked up two more-than-notable recruits.
The biggest of the two, literally and figuratively, is Elijah Hutcheson, a four-star offensive tackle from Roanoke, Virginia.
Checking in at 6-foot-5, 275 pounds, Hutcheson is ranked as the No. 7 offensive tackle in the 2027 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
He committed to Florida over Clemson, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.

The Gators also grabbed a commitment from safety Kailib Dillard from Jenks, Oklahoma. The 247Sports Composite ranks Dillard as a three-star recruit and considers him the No. 46 safety in the country. Notably, Rivals is higher on Dillard, ranking him as a four-star.
He committed to Florida over the Oregon Ducks and Georgia Bulldogs.

Sumrall and the Gators are now cooking with grease on the 2027 recruiting trail. With the addition of these two recruits, Florida is up to 12 commitments and the class is ranked No. 8 in the country.
“I think the development factor at Florida really stood out," Hutcheson told Chad Simmons of Rivals. They have a great program and a great way of doing things. I trust the coaches and believe in what they can do with me.”
That's a common refrain among Florida recruits. They believe in the program, obviously, but they also seem to really believe in Sumrall and his staff.
“What most excites me is the energy he is bringing to this new team at Florida and how he is going to rebuild them back to the old Florida days,” Dillard told Sam Spiegelman of Rivals about Sumrall.
Florida's 2027 class is headlined by five-star offensive tackle Maxwell Hiller, who is ranked as the consensus No. 3 recruit in the country.
