Pete Golding, Ole Miss win battle for 2027 QB over USF, Vanderbilt

The Ole Miss Rebels have found themselves a second quarterback for the class of 2027.

They were in a recruiting battle with the USF Bulls, featuring new head coach Brian Hartline, and the up-and-coming Vanderbilt Commodores. Memphis was also in the running for his commitment.

Ultimately, though, this was a battle that Pete Golding and his staff won.

Crews Jenkins, a three-star quarterback from Brentwood, Tennessee, committed to the Rebels on Wednesday.

Quarterbacks coach Joe Judge and secondary recruiter Jake Schoonover both played a role in getting the three-star quarterback to commit to Ole Miss despite four-star quarterback Keegan Croucher already being committed to the class.

Croucher is ranked as the No. 15 quarterback in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports. Jenkins is ranked as the No. 72 quarterback in the country.

According to the rankings, Jenkins will be at a disadvantage on the Ole Miss depth chart, but recruiting rankings are in no way an indication of future talent.

All Jenkins is looking for is an opportunity to play ball and show what he can do, rankings be damned.

“I think just the opportunity to compete,” he told Steve Wiltfong of Rivals last month, discussing his interest in the Rebels. “Coach Judge has been the most consistent in recruiting me along with Coach Schoonie. I feel like all the coaches are great at developing quarterbacks and have a great background of doing so. Also Coach Pete is a players guy and cares for you.”

As a junior at Brentwood Academy, Jenkins threw for over 2,000 yards with 25 touchdowns as a junior.

He's the ninth 2027 commitment for Ole Miss in a class that's ranked No. 20 nationally.
