Since Thursday morning, numerous reports have indicated that Aaron Rodgers would soon be visiting with people associated with the Pittsburgh Steelers so that the two sides could finalize an agreement to ensure that he will serve as the club's starting quarterback for the 2026 NFL season.
During a Friday appearance on the "You Better You Bet" program, Steelers general manager Omar Khan carefully declined to confirm anything regarding the latest Rodgers updates.
"Yeah, you know, I don’t know where specifically Aaron is," Khan said, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "You know, I can tell you that Aaron and I, and [head coach Mike McCarthy] and Aaron and Aaron’s representatives, we’ve had some good conversations since the season ended and since Mike got here, and it’s been positive. But, yeah, I don’t know where [Rodgers] is at this moment."
"Specifically" and "at this moment" were interesting words used by Khan as he neither confirmed nor denied that Rodgers could put pen to paper on a contract as soon as Friday afternoon or evening. While Rodgers and the Steelers reportedly may still be discussing how much money will be attached to what could be the final contract of his playing career, he has also "continued the conversation and the acclimation process with his receivers" during the offseason.
Additionally, Steelers reporter Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette mentioned on Thursday that Rodgers never cleaned out his locker at the team's practice facility following the 2025 season.
"We continue to have conversations, and they’re positive and, you know, we had a good experience with him last year, and, you know, I think he would probably echo the same thing and, you know, conversations continue," Khan added about Rodgers.
Rodgers is known to value his privacy, so it's possible that he is simply less-than-thrilled somebody leaked that he plans to re-sign with the Steelers before the team's OTAs begin on May 18. As Florio noted, all that's really left to negotiate between the Steelers and Rodgers is how much the future Hall of Famer will earn for the 2026 season.
