The Tampa Bay Rays have gone 13-1 in their last 14 games, and a significant contributor to their early-season success has been Junior Caminero.
He is recognized as a key part of the Rays offense as one of the top young hitters in MLB. The 22-year-old has 10 home runs on the season, demonstrating his power surge.
He's been successful with utilizing his raw power by adjusting his pitch selection and swing. He's also coming off a 2025 All-Star campaign where he hit 45 home runs and notched 110 RBI and 159 hits.
Evidently, he's carried the momentum into early 2026, but with improved plate discipline (12.5% walk rate & 16.9% strikeout rate). Overall, this has made him a bigger threat at the plate. He's been successful with targeting hittable pitches versus chasing pitches outside the zone.

Caminero has demonstrated elite bat speed, ranking in the 100th percentile at 79.9 mph (first among MLB hitters), showing his ability to handle high-velocity pitching. While owning the fastest swing in MLB, he also has the flattest (22-degree swing path tilt).
He's harnessed a flat swing that's helped him drive the ball. This change has helped him reduce hitting into double plays and the top of breaking balls that produced more groundouts. His leveled swing has also allowed him to square up fastballs, producing more consistent power.
He illustrated his offensive power surge against the Boston Red Sox on Thursday with his 10th home run while also going 2-for-4 in the game. It was a rocket hit to center field that went 449 feet deep with an average exit velocity of 114.3 mph, capitalizing on a Red Sox team struggling as key additions remain injured.
The Dominican infielder has also maintained a high OPS of .846 and a 40%+ flyball rate, highlighting his consistent power production.
