LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers fell again to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals on Saturday with a 131-108 final score, and Lakers head coach JJ Redick isn't happy about it.
Following the game, Redick spoke with reporters, and he was visibly frustrated and upset. But the head coach was also gracious about the loss and gave the Thunder credit.
During his presser, Redick sent a positive, five-word message to the Thunder, stating, "They're an incredible basketball team."
But he also expressed confidence in his team. "I still think we can beat them," Redick said.
"I'm not giving up on the series. We're gonna go try to win on Monday. We're gonna try and extend the series, and we're trying to take this thing back to OKC," via David Mendez-Yapkowitz of Clutch Points.
With their 3-0 series lead, the Thunder are still undefeated through seven postseason games. The team is 27-1 since the beginning of February in games Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has appeared in.
"Oklahoma City is the NBA's sixth defending champion to start 7-0 in the following postseason after three wins over short-handed Los Angeles by a combined 59 points," ESPN notes.
The Lakers and Thunder meet again on Monday in Los Angeles, and the game airs at 10:30 p.m. EST on Prime Video. No team in the history of the NBA has rebounded from a 3-0 series deficit.
According to NBA research, including regular-season games, the Lakers are now 0-7 against the Thunder this season and have an average scoring margin of 25.4 points. The losses haven't been close, either, with the closest being by nine points.
In Game 3, James notched 19 points, six rebounds and eight assists.
James can't do it alone, and that's becoming clearer in each game. It certainly doesn't help that Luka Doncic is sidelined, and this may be a case of the Lakers simply not being able to overcome that deficit.
