After years of struggle, the Washington Wizards may finally be able to get back on track.
With John Wall as their ambassador, the struggling Eastern Conference side got some good fortune from the basketball gods, winning the 2026 NBA Draft lottery. The Wizards were tied for the best odds to get the top selection after finishing the season with a league-worst 17-65 record.
Barring a shocking turn of events, they can now get BYU star AJ Dybantsa, the consensus No. 1 prospect in this class. However, they will have no shortage of potential options.
While Dybantsa has been penciled in as the projected first overall selection for most of the predraft process, at least three other young men could give him a run for his money.
UNC's Caleb Wilson is a versatile forward with sky-high defensive potential and athleticism, and Kansas' Darryn Peterson may have the highest floor in this class as an instant-offense shooting guard.
There's also Cameron Boozer, a power forward out of Duke who was just named Naismith Player of the Year, AP Player of the Year, Wooden Award winner and Sporting News Player of the Year in his lone season in college.
This draft is one of the most stacked in years, and with the league's new anti-tanking policies that make trading draft picks a little more appealing, it wouldn't be shocking to see multiple transactions from teams looking to enter the top 10.
