One year ago, the New York Knicks reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years.
Now a year later, the Knicks are back in the same spot, but having done it in even more historic fashion.
Securing their second-round sweep of the Philadelphia 76ers, Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and the game's star Miles McBride led the Knicks to a dominating 144-114 win.
Having made NBA playoff history in multiple ways already, New York joined two championship teams (2016 Cleveland Cavaliers and 2021 Milwaukee Bucks) by tying the postseason record for the most team threes in a playoff game with 25.
Normally a sixth man who got the start in the game, Miles McBride led the Knicks with seven threes — he also led the team in scoring with 25 points.

"It’s definitely special. I didn’t even know [about the record] honestly," said McBride after the game. "To have anything like that on your name is a legacy you want."
But that's far from the only reason the Knicks' run has been historic.
New York is riding a seven-game win streak, having won the last three games of the first-round matchup against the Atlanta Hawks before the sweep of Philadelphia. The Knicks' seven wins in a row mark a new franchise record for consecutive wins in a single postseason.

A win streak also doesn't speak to how well the Knicks have been playing of late, taking three of the four games against the 76ers by double digits and two by at least 30.
Only four teams in NBA history ever won three or more playoff games by 30-plus points in a single postseason before New York. The 2026 Knicks are now in the company of the 2025 Oklahoma City Thunder, the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers, the 1996 Utah Jazz and the 1987 Los Angeles Lakers, with all but Utah eventually capturing the title.
The Knicks even own the best point differential (+194) in a team's first 10 playoff games ever, significantly exceeding the then record +170 set by 2017 Golden State Warriors.
While none of this guarantees the Knicks end up lifting the Larry O'Brien Trophy, the Knicks have already ensured their 2026 postseason run goes down in history no matter how it ends.
