Three current NFL free agents who can help a team win this season

The NFL Draft is a memory, with rookie minicamps underway around the league. That doesn't mean that teams have finished putting their rosters together just yet, as free agency is still in full swing.

For those teams with gaps on their rosters, including teams with Super Bowl aspirations, there's talent to be had out there. That includes several veterans who can provide leadership, while also still being productive players.

There is plenty of talent still available in free agency. Here's a look at a few of the names who are still available for teams to pick up. It's just a matter of how much longer these stars are going to be available.

1. Stefon Diggs, WR

The lingering legal issues are now behind Stefon Diggs, and he's been vindicated. That means it's time for him to find his next NFL team, and there should be plenty of interest in him. After all, Diggs proved a season ago that he's still capable of producing.

In 2025 with the New England Patriots, Diggs led the team in receiving with 85 receptions for 1,013 yards. He also had four touchdowns. There is some concern that with his age, Diggs may be close to regressing. However, even with a small dip in his production from a season ago, he could help a team.

2. Joey Bosa, Edge

At one point, Joey Bosa was among the best pass-rushers in the NFL. He hasn't quite been playing at that level in recent years. Still, with 5.0 sacks, nine tackles for a loss and five forced fumbles a season ago, he can be a useful veteran presence on a team.

Bosa and the San Francisco 49ers have seemingly been in talks about the 2026 season. However, there is a gap in the negotiations between the two sides. So, for now, he remains a free agent.

3. Jonnu Smith, TE

With David Njoku landing a new home with the Los Angeles Chargers , Jonnu Smith is firmly the best available tight end. This comes a season after he started seven games for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and two seasons ago, he made the Pro Bowl.

Admittedly, Smith had the least productive individual season of his career. That was with 222 yards and two touchdowns on 38 receptions. However, it wasn't that long ago when he was among the best at his position, and he could provide that veteran presence again.
