Adam Schefter has strong opinion on if Aaron Rodgers will return to Steelers

The start of the 2026-27 season is just four months away, and the Pittsburgh Steelers still don't know who's going to be their quarterback. Ideally, of course, Aaron Rodgers will return, but there's been no promise from Rodgers on if that will happen.

Over the weekend, it was expected that Rodgers would visit the Pittsburgh Steelers over Mother's Day weekend. But, according to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, that didn't happen.

During an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Monday, May 11, Schefter said Rodgers wasn't at the facility, but also gave a strong opinion on whether that meant the quarterback was leaning against returning for another season.

Adam Schefter Offers Hot Take on Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers

Speaking on the show, Schefter assured Steelers followers that he still believes, 100%, that Rodgers will be the team's quarterback next season.

"The weekend — Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday — have come and gone," he said on the show. "Aaron Rodgers was not at the (Steelers') facility once. The Steelers have a voluntary offseason workout program that begins one week from today."

He added: "I know last year Rodgers didn't show up with the Steelers until June, but if he's going to re-sign, I don't know why that wouldn't be done at some point in the next week."

Most importantly, Schefter said that he doesn't "think anything has changed, and I still think he ends up back with the Steelers."

So, Schefter absolutely believes Rodgers is a Steeler for the 2026-27 season.

Schefter makes a good point that Rodgers not showing up to meetings or practice sessions is nothing new, and it certainly doesn't mean that he won't return in 2026. But, it's getting down to the wire, so in an effort to keep the sanity of the Pittsburgh Steelers fanbase intact, let's hope this is a deal that gets done soon.
