With the NBA Draft lottery already in the books, analysts, fans and experts have adjusted their mock drafts.
There were some major surprises, like the Los Angeles Clippers getting the Indiana Pacers' No. 5 pick from the Ivica Zubac trade. That unlikely outcome has now put the Clippers in an interesting position. They may want to flip that pick to acquire a win-now player, or they could pull the plug on the Kawhi Leonard era and start from scratch.
Considering that, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green hinted at the possibility of his team making a move for the former Defensive Player of the Year.
"You talk about the Golden State Warriors, who have won championships, you have to look at the Los Angeles Clippers in the fifth spot and say: 'Huh, what are they gonna do?' Are they going to draft the fifth pick and put him next to Kawhi Leonard or are they going to move Kawhi Leonard, try to get more draft assets, and start a rebuild?" Green said on his show.
While that makes perfect sense on paper, Green might not be aware of the league's tampering policies. He might be pursuing a career as an analyst, but he's still a member of the Warriors organization. As such, he may not be allowed to dig deep into this stuff, at least not yet.
Of course, there's also a scenario in which the Warriors may finally move on from Green, something he's been candid about. That said, this once again raises questions about where active NBA players should draw the line when they try to enter the media space.
Even if the league doesn't punish him or his team for this, throwing that narrative out there might prompt Leonard to ask the Clippers not to trade him to the Warriors for whatever reason. All things considered, this simply isn't the smartest way to address your team's offseason.
