There were some big names to miss the cut at the 2026 PGA Championship, but perhaps none were bigger than Bryson DeChambeau. It continues what has been a tough year for him in major championships.
DeChambeau tried to play his way back into contention on Friday with a strong finish to his second round, picking up a birdie on each of his final three holes. But his start to the week was so bad, and put him into such a deep hole, that the damage was already done.
He bogeyed six holes during Thursday's opening round, including a double-bogey on No. 8 to finish the day six over.
He followed that with a terrible start to Friday's round by bogeying four of his first 11 holes, including another double-bogey, this time on No. 7. That pretty much ended his weekend.
It is the second straight major this year where DeChambeau has failed to play on the weekend, having previously missed the cut at the Masters.
DeChambeau is one of the biggest name stars in LIV Golf, and started his year off with a pair of wins there. That was followed by him missing the cut at the Masters, and then all of the uncertainty surrounding the future of LIV Golf started to surface. He then withdrew from the Mexico City LIV tournament due to an injury.
Other notable names to miss the cut include Tommy Fleetwood, Viktor Hovland, Keegan Bradley and Adam Scott.
Maverick McNealey and Alex Smalley enter the weekend tied at the top of the leaderboard, both of them at four-under.
Jordan Spieth, who is trying to complete the career Grand Slam, has some work to do as he enters at one-over par, five strokes off the lead. Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1-ranked player, is tied for ninth place at two-under par.
