Cowboys' Dak Prescott shares huge George Pickens prediction amid franchise tag drama

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens recently signed his franchise tag worth roughly $27.3M for the 2026 season. However, the fact that he was not present for the Cowboys' first voluntary workout that followed his signing of the tender caused some to wonder if he is unhappy with his situation.

While speaking with reporters at the Cowboys' annual charity home run derby on Thursday, Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott indicated he's not losing sleep over Pickens' whereabouts this spring.

Dak Prescott: George Pickens is "going to be there" when required

"I've just showed George my support," Prescott explained, per Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys' website. "The guy that I know George is, obviously, he signed the tag, so when he has to be there and ready to play, he's going to be there. He's a hell of a talent. We've thrown this offseason, so I'm comfortable with where he's at, and I'm excited for when he can get in the building and get rolling."

Pickens cannot be fined for missing work until the Cowboys' mandatory minicamp gets underway on June 16. That said, it's fair to wonder if he's sending a message by staying away from the team after Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones made it known earlier in May that he expected Pickens would participate in at least some voluntary sessions.

Why Dak Prescott isn't worried about where George Pickens will be come September

The Cowboys confirmed earlier this spring that Pickens won't be receiving a multiyear deal from the club before the July 15 deadline for teams to sign tagged players to such contracts arrives. Some within the league believe Pickens may be upset about the fact that the Cowboys reportedly are already prepared to tag him again next year if he produces another solid season for the club.

Meanwhile, Prescott seems just fine with what he and Pickens have thus far done together this offseason.

"As much as needed," Prescott responded when asked about his throwing sessions with Pickens. "No different than any past offseason."

Whether or not Pickens' offseason will become different on the morning of June 16 shall be seen.
