Caitlin Clark joined Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White on the podium for their postgame press conference on Wednesday night. This was after the Fever secured their first win of the new WNBA season, defeating the Los Angeles Sparks on the road, 87-78.
The very first question Coach White faced centered on Aliyah Boston, who was quiet in Wednesday’s win. The three-time All-Star managed just four points on 0-of-3 shooting, with seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 23 minutes before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
When asked to comment on Boston’s limited contributions in the win, White pointed to the officiating during the game.
“I think it was foul trouble. I mean, she didn’t get a chance, really,” White said of Boston. “And I think, you know, it’s hard to get into a flow when you’re getting called for all those, quote-unquote, fouls.”

Clark smiled after hearing White’s comments. She then opened her mouth in astonishment. It was as if to show that she could not believe that Coach White just said what she did.
Both Clark and White have been known to be critical of officiating over the years, both during and after games. In fact, the 24-year-old was hit with her first technical foul of the season on Wednesday because of her excessive complaining.
Clark did not say anything about White’s criticism towards the ref during their postgame interview. However, she did not have to since her reaction said it all.
