The Pittsburgh Steelers finally got their guy back. Aaron Rodgers will return for another year before potentially riding into the sunset.
Regardless of whether Rodgers wants to return for another season, the Steelers need to brace themselves for the future. As such, they must figure out whether any of their young quarterbacks can hold down the fort and be their guy for the future once Rodgers is no longer in the building.
In an interview with Heavy's Evan Massey, an unnamed NFL executive claimed the Steelers already believe Drew Allar can be that guy.
"I think Drew Allar is going to be their guy," the former executive told Massey.
The Steelers took the Penn State star in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, just one year after taking Ohio State's Will Howard. Allar has all the physical tools to be a star at the next level, though his footwork and mechanics are still a work in progress. Even so, they will have at least a full year's worth of practice to fix those issues.
"They were very high on him leading up to the draft. Just a couple of years ago, Allar was one of the top up-and-coming star quarterbacks in college. I think the Steelers believe that he can be their guy to take over from Aaron (Rodgers)," the executive added.
Rodgers or not, the Steelers may not be a Super Bowl contender in Mike McCarthy's first year in charge. But after years of average quarterback play, this organization may have finally found Ben Roethlisberger's heir at quarterback.
