Brandon Aiyuk might have a new 'underrated' trade destination

The San Francisco 49ers' relationship with Brandon Aiyuk has clearly reached a breaking point.

The former All-Pro wideout won't play another snap for Kyle Shanahan's team, and with everybody in the league aware of the drama, his trade value is pretty close to zero.

That said, things could change after June 1. The 49ers might take anything just to get him off the books, and multiple teams could be willing to take their chances on him.

Considering that, Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report argued that the Las Vegas Raiders would be an underrated trade destination, and he makes a strong case for it.

The Las Vegas Raiders need Brandon Aiyuk

“Playing for the Raiders likely wouldn’t mean many wins for Aiyuk, at least in the short-term,” Davenport wrote. “But given the lack of proven talent at the position in Las Vegas, assuming Aiyuk is anywhere close to 100 percent he could ostensibly become the No. 1 wideout for the Raiders in relatively short order.”

Even if the Raiders won't start rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza right away, veteran signal-caller Kirk Cousins and head coach Klint Kubiak will need more weapons for their offense.

As things stand now, the Raiders can only trust tight end Brock Bowers and running back Ashton Jeanty to make plays, boasting one of the thinnest wide receiver corps in the league.

Aiyuk obviously comes with some risks and questions about his health and character, but this might be the best opportunity to get his career going again after years of drama.

And with not many appealing options left in free agency, he might give the Raiders a clear path to contention.
