Bulls target Heat assistant Chris Quinn as head-coaching search heats up

The Chicago Bulls are in for a total overhaul as they head into the 2026 season, and it's being headed up by Bryson Graham, the new executive vice president of basketball operations for the franchise.

One of the biggest tasks at hand for Graham, of course, is finding the team's new head coach. The team's last coach, Billy Donovan, parted ways with the Bulls in April after six seasons amid the front-office changes.

Now, a new report states that the Bulls are targeting the assistant coach of the Miami Heat, Chris Quinn, in their head coaching search.

Bulls to interview Miami assistant coach Chris Quinn

According to multiple reports — including one from Miami Herald Heat beat reporter Anthony Chiang and another from USA Today's HoopsHype — Miami is allowing Quinn to interview for the head coaching job with the Bulls.

"The Heat has granted the Bulls permission to interview longtime Heat assistant coach Chris Quinn for the franchise’s head-coaching job, according to a source," Chiang stated on X on Friday.

NBA insider Michael Scotto also reported the news on Friday, stating: "The Chicago Bulls will interview Miami Heat assistant coach Chris Quinn as part of their head coaching search, league sources told @hoopshype. Quinn has a strong background in player development and has worked as an assistant coach on Erik Spoelstra’s staff since 2014."

The Heat closed out the 2025-26 NBA regular season with a 43-39 overall record. They were fourth place in the Southeast Division and 10th in the Eastern Conference.

As the Bulls search for their next coach, Donovan is being linked to a head-coaching position with the Orlando Magic. It's late in the season for Chicago to find a Donovan replacement, but the search is certainly moving forward.
