Maxx Crosby is back with the Las Vegas Raiders for the 2026 season, but that doesn't stop NFL analysts and experts from projecting that he'll be traded sometime soon.
Now, the Chicago Bears, who "had some dialogue" with the Raiders earlier in the offseason regarding Crosby, are once again being named as a possible trade destination for the star edge-rusher.
Now, Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report is linking Crosby back with the Bears as a potential trade spot.
In the trade pitch, Crosby goes to the Bears, and in return, the Raiders get a 2027 Round 1 pick and 2028 Round 2 pick. It would hurt Chicago to lose those selections, especially the Round 1 pick, but Crosby, despite his injury last season, is still considered an elite edge-rusher, so this pitch makes sense.
"Despite a clear need at edge-rusher, the Bears did little in free agency or this year's draft to address the position," Davenport notes in the piece. "Crosby is saying all the right things, but there is no way his relationship with a team that shut him down against his wishes last year and then tried to trade him to Baltimore is perfectly harmonious.
"Chicago has Super Bowl aspirations in 2026, and the Raiders will be fortunate just to be chasing a playoff berth by 2028. Vegas needs to add young assets. Think about that long-term vision Chicago's head coach mentioned. And the return for Crosby may never be better than what it is right now if the Ravens are right about his knee."
So, does this trade make sense for the Bears? Kind of, sort of. The Bears do have a need at the edge-rusher position, and it's one of their biggest roster holes, but there are plenty of other qualified fits that wouldn't require trading valuable picks in upcoming NFL Drafts.
