Not all stretches during an NFL season are created equal. A favorable month can launch a playoff push. A brutal one can bury a team before Thanksgiving leftovers hit the fridge.
Let's examine the most difficult four-game stretches for each NFC East team — the gauntlets that could define division races, shape playoff hopes and, in some cases, determine whether coaches and QBs enter the offseason under pressure.
Weeks 12-16: vs. Philadelphia Eagles (Nov. 26) | at Seattle Seahawks (Dec. 7) | at Los Angeles Rams (Dec. 20) | vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (Dec. 27) | The Cowboys won't find much reprieve at the start of the holiday season. Dallas' annual Thanksgiving game will be against its toughest division rival. Following the matchup with the Eagles, they face the Super Bowl LX champs and then the team that just added 2025 Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to its roster.
This stretch culminates in a visit from the much-improved Jaguars, who impressed in the playoffs in head coach Liam Coen's first season. At a minimum, Dallas will have to go 2-2 in this stretch to show that their team can compete at a high level and maintain a winning record before the season ends two weeks later.
Weeks 11-14: vs Jacksonville Jaguars (Nov. 22) | at Indianapolis Colts (Nov. 29) | vs San Francisco 49ers (Dec. 6) | at Seattle Seahawks (Dec. 13) | Luckily for Big Blue, their opponents this season have a combined winning percentage of .498 based on last season's records. In comparison, the Giants' 2025 strength of schedule was the toughest in the league, with a combined winning percentage of .574. New York went 4-13 as a result.
Still, the middle of their schedule presents a test that could decide their season. Along with facing playoff-caliber teams, Colts quarterback Daniel Jones will be looking for revenge after seven mostly miserable years in New York. All before a trip to the defending champions' home turf.
Weeks 3-6: at Chicago Bears (Sep. 28) | vs. Los Angeles Rams (Oct. 4) | Jacksonville Jaguars (Oct. 11) | Carolina Panthers (Oct. 18) |This season presents a bit of a fresh start for the Super Bowl LIX champions. Along with another change at offensive coordinator for quarterback Jalen Hurts, he'll be looking for a new No. 1 wide receiver as the Eagles traded A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots.
The Eagles will have to gel quickly, though, as they face three upstart teams that surprisingly made the playoffs and the Bears, who went a round further than the Eagles in the postseason. Then, the Rams come back to Philadelphia to try to avenge their 2025 loss that ended with a walk-off blocked field goal returned for a touchdown.
Weeks 1-4: at Philadelphia Eagles (Sep. 13) | at Dallas Cowboys (Sep. 20) | vs. Seattle Seahawks (Sep. 27) | Indianapolis Colts (Oct. 4) | The Commanders are looking to bounce back from an injury-riddled 5-12 season. They couldn't have gotten a harder stretch of games to start with. Two huge division road games to open the season, followed by a visit from the champs and a Colts team that should be healthy to start the season.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels' return from season-ending injuries will be tested right away. The Commanders' overhauled defense will have to prove it can hold up against elite competition right away. For Washington, there won't be any wiggle room to ease into the season.
