Denny Hamlin's impressive victory in Sunday's FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan not only reinforced his status as the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series championship favorite, but also went down in the history books.
Hamlin came from the back to the front and won the race by over 11 seconds — but most importantly, he tied his late teammate in Kyle Busch on NASCAR's all-time wins list with his 63rd career win.
"The offseason was rough for me, it was rough for the NASCAR family," Hamlin told Prime Video. "This week, we lost [Ned Jarrett], the original bada-- of the No. 11. We're still thinking about Kyle [Busch]."
Busch and Hamlin raced as teammates at Joe Gibbs Racing from 2008-22. As he celebrated, Hamlin flew a Busch flag outside the driver's side window of his No. 11.

The moment was reminiscent of Jeff Gordon's 76th career victory at Phoenix Raceway in April 2007. That win tied Gordon with Dale Earnhardt on NASCAR's all-time wins list, and Gordon flew an Earnhardt flag as he celebrated the win.
Gordon's 2007 season saw him win six races and earn 30 top 10s. Hamlin could very well match that win total as he looks for his first Cup Series championship.
