Brian Cashman shares major update on Yankees' trade plans

Once again, the New York Yankees are facing a bit of a crisis. AL MVP candidate Aaron Judge will miss the next 4-6 weeks with a ribcage injury.

This isn't the first time injuries have derailed Judge's once-promising season, and he's left a huge void in Aaron Boone's lineup.

As such, the Yankees have been tied to multiple potential trade candidates.

That's why general manager Brian Cashman had to set the record straight and pump the brakes on any potential big move.

Aaron Judge's injury won't change the Yankees' trade plans

“I don’t think [it will impact the trade deadline],” Cashman said, per CBS Sports. “If we expect him back, which we do, then I don’t see why that would impact something for the deadline. So, we just have to be able to hold the fort and hold that spot nice and warm until he returns.”

That has been the Yankees' MO in recent years. Long gone are the days of the Evil Empire setting its sights on every star available and luring them to the Bronx.

The Yankees expect to get Giancarlo Stanton back in the lineup at some point in June, and that should help mitigate Judge's absence to a degree.

They should consider bringing him back as a designated hitter to keep him fresh and healthy for the remainder of the season.

In the meantime, they'll continue to roll behind one of the best starting rotations in the game to hold down the fort.

They're tied for the top spot in the AL East, but they might start ceding ground if their offense can't get going without their best player.
