Report: Jalen Hurts was to blame for A.J. Brown's unhappiness in Philadelphia

Following months of speculation dating back to their Super Bowl-winning season, the Philadelphia Eagles finally moved on from A.J. Brown.

As expected, the star wide receiver made his way to the New England Patriots as soon as his cap hit lessened on June 1.

Brown's discomfort on Nick Sirianni's team was an open secret around the league, and so was the fact that he didn't see eye-to-eye with Jalen Hurts anymore.

However, the reasons for his unhappiness were more professional than personal. According to a report by ESPN, Brown was frustrated with Hurts' inability to get him the ball.

The Eagles chose between Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown

"A good bit of his angst stemmed from the play of Hurts, league sources said, in part because of Hurts' perceived reluctance to target Brown on tight-window throws against zone coverage," the report read.

Hurts has always struggled to see the middle of the field, and that has severely hampered the Eagles' passing game for years.

While offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo also deserved plenty of criticism for his schemes and play-calling, it seemed that he was trying to avoid putting Hurts in compromising situations.

Ultimately, the Eagles realized the two simply couldn't coexist anymore, so they had to make a decision.

"The Eagles didn't want a situation in which it felt like they weren't in it together, knowing they've been at their best when team chemistry is right," the report added.

Brown will now be reunited with head coach Mike Vrabel, and he'll immediately slide in as Drake Maye's primary target.

The Eagles, on the other hand, got a first-round pick, and they'll roll with DeVonta Smith, rookie Makai Lemon, Hollywood Brown and Dontayvion Wicks to try and pick up the slack.

This team had dynasty potential, but there was always something going on behind closed doors, and sometimes, it takes more than just talent to get the job done.
