The New York Giants wiped the slate clean after Jaxson Dart's rookie season, hiring John Harbaugh as the new head coach.
There's always an adjustment period when a new coach takes the reins of the team, and inexperienced players might need more time to get a handle on the new system.
According to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, that might be the case with the Giants' young quarterback.
After watching the team through rookie minicamp and OTAs, Duggan agreed with Harbaugh when he said Dart is having some issues adjusting to the system.
"John Harbaugh called Jaxson Dart's adjustment to the new offense a 'work in progress.' That's an accurate description. He looks a lot like he did last offseason when he was often indecisive in the pocket," Duggan shared on X.
Duggan claimed that Dart has turned would-be sacks into electric scrambles, but he still doesn't look comfortable within the structure.
"Most of the offense's best plays have come after the first play breaks down and Dart gets out of the pocket," added Duggan.
Granted, the Giants still have three months before kick-off, so there's more than enough time for Dart to get a hold of the offense and get back on track.
However, all teams will be off for a while after this week's three-day mandatory minicamp, so he'll have to make the most of every single rep before a long layoff.
Dart took way too many hits as a rookie, and the last thing the team will want is to have him scramble and leave the pocket more often than he should.
While he can make plays with his legs, he's no Lamar Jackson, and Harbaugh must adapt his system to his players, not the other way around.
