How Mike Norvell was key to Florida State landing elite WR recruit: 'It meant a lot to me'

The Florida State Seminoles have picked up a massive recruiting win, beating out an ACC rival and a top SEC program in the process.

That win came in the form of a commitment from Sean Green, a four-star wide receiver from Kingsland, Georgia.

Green had actually made this commitment to FSU months before, during a visit to Tallahassee in early April. He kept that decision quiet, at least publicly, though he kept in close contact with Mike Norvell and his staff.

That included an official visit to Florida State in early June.

“Every time I went up to FSU, it just felt very welcoming and I felt like I was at home,” Green told Rivals. “That feeling never changed.”

Those feelings led to a public commitment from Green on Tuesday.

In general, the four-star wideout has made six trips to Florida State's campus. He's gotten close to Norvell and wide receivers coach Tim Harris in the process.

For a head coach, Norvell was extremely engaged in the recruiting process.

“Definitely Coach Norvell,” Green said when asked who had recruited him the most. “It’s a tight race between Coach Norvell and Coach Harris because Coach Norvell texts me almost three times a week saying good morning, asking how I’m doing and how practice went.

“It meant a lot to me how Norvell recruited me. He is the head coach with so much going on, so it lets me know that he wants me for real and cares about me.”

Green is a big-time recruit for Florida State. According to 247Sports, he's ranked as the No. 26 wideout in the 2027 class. He's FSU's 10th commitment for this cycle.
