Spurs' Mitch Johnson, Victor Wembanyama, De'Aaron Fox, ready to turn page from Game 4 disaster

Knowing their season is on the line, the San Antonio Spurs said all the right things during their media sessions on Friday.

But needing to put it all to the test, they're also aware of the challenge at hand.

Two days after blowing the biggest lead squandered in a loss in NBA Finals history, Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson, superstar center Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox spoke about what went wrong in Game 4 and what they need to do on Saturday night to avoid losing the series to the New York Knicks

Spurs HC Mitch Johnson is still very confident in his team

Now trailing 3-1 in the series, Johnson displayed a sense of confidence in his team despite letting fourth-quarter leads slip away in each of their three losses in the Finals.

"If anything, there's conviction, strength and confidence," Johnson said. "There's no trick. There's no avoiding what's happened. There's no avoiding all four games have been winnable games."

Victor Wembanyama experienced a roller coaster of emotions in Game 4

Wembanyama, who has led the Spurs to the Finals in his first postseason, offered a candid response when asked about shaking off Wednesday's historic defeat.

"I wouldn't say it was so hard to shake off, right? But harder than any other game before by far. But now we're over it. It's the playoffs, there's no time to regret things."

Wembanyama scored 24 points in 44 minutes while also bringing down 13 rebounds and dishing out an assist. However, his early-game arrogance was overshadowed by his clear fatigue in the fourth quarter and by his missing two free throws down the stretch that could've been the difference.

De'Aaron Fox serves as the veteran presence on the young Spurs

Fox, the team's veteran presence, also shared his thoughts about moving on and trying to win one game at a time.

"We need to win tomorrow, and then we give ourselves a chance to play another game... we're not trying to fast forward, take the easy way out, take shortcuts. We're looking at the game tomorrow, and that's the one game we're thinking about right now," Fox said.

Tip-off for Game 5 back in San Antonio is set for 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
