NFL front offices reportedly believe this about Saints, Cameron Jordan situation

New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore confirmed earlier this week that there is a "contract offer available" to bring longtime Saints pass-rusher Cameron Jordan back to the organization this spring or summer.

That said, the fact that Jordan hasn't yet re-signed with the Saints has understandably caused some to assume he may be keeping his options open. For a piece published on Friday morning, NFL insider Jason La Canfora of SportsBoom US shared an update on Jordan's future.

Is this Cameron Jordan's "best option" for 2026?

According to La Canfora, NFL front offices believe Jordan's "best option could be back in New Orleans" for the 2026 season.

Jordan has played only for the Saints since they selected him in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. However, he was previously linked with the Kansas City Chiefs, among other teams.

Interestingly, Kansas City defensive tackle Chris Jones acknowledged this week that the Chiefs have "got to get more sacks" this coming season to bounce back from ending the 2025 campaign with a record of 6-11. Jordan, who turns 37 years old in July, could help Kansas City achieve such a goal.

Additionally, the New England Patriots could also use help at Jordan's position. On Thursday, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel hinted that he does not plan on acquiring a big-name edge-rusher this summer unless somebody already on his roster goes down with an injury.

Why Cameron Jordan returning to Saints may be likely

One unnamed general manager who spoke with La Canfora about Jordan's future mentioned that the Saints have "never been shy about spending money on name players." Meanwhile, the fact that Jordan recorded 10.5 sacks over 17 games with New Orleans last season shows he could still have something left in the tank to offer Moore.

"Injuries to contending teams could certainly help boost Jordan’s earning potential elsewhere," La Canfora added, "but coming off such a successful season, there is also reason to believe that what will be out there for him isn’t going to be overwhelming, and finding the right fit in a place where he’s comfortable and has already mastered the defense could loom large."

In short, it sounds like Jordan and the Saints embracing a reunion may be the inevitable conclusion to this story.
